The makers of the upcoming Kannada historical epic Devaraaya have officially announced the title, creating excitement among fans of Kichcha Sudeepa. The announcement was made on the actor’s birthday, revealing Sudeepa in the powerful role of Sri Krishna Devaraya, one of the most celebrated rulers in South Indian history.
The title announcement presents Devaraaya as a grand historical saga centred around power, ambition, leadership and legacy. The glimpse introduces a majestic atmosphere and hints at a larger-than-life cinematic experience. With the story set against a historical backdrop, the film is expected to explore an important period associated with the legendary ruler.

Kichcha Sudeepa will headline the project as Sri Krishna Devaraya. Known for taking on diverse and commanding roles, the actor’s portrayal of the historic king has already become one of the major talking points surrounding the film. The announcement has also increased curiosity about Sudeepa’s look, performance and transformation for the role.

Devaraaya is being produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under the banners of People Media Factory and Supriyanvi Picture Studio. The production houses are coming together for what is being positioned as a large-scale period project.
Music plays an important role in the title announcement, with Gowra Hari composing and arranging the music. The accompanying poetic piece is attributed to Tenali Ramakrishna, adding a historical and cultural flavour to the presentation. Gowra Hari has also provided the vocals, supported by backing singers Sai Charan Bhaskaruni, Harini Ivaturi, Tejaswini Nandibhatla, Sindhuja Srinivasan and Pavani Vasa. G. Jeevan Babu has handled the programming, mixing and mastering.

The project also has a dedicated visual effects team, with PMF VFX taking care of the VFX work. Haashtag Media is responsible for marketing, while Harish Arasu and Vamsi Shekar are associated with the film as PROs.

The makers have announced a December 2027 theatrical release, giving the team considerable time to build the film on a large scale. With Kichcha Sudeepa stepping into the role of Sri Krishna Devaraya, Devaraaya is shaping up as an ambitious historical spectacle.
