The much-awaited Tamil film Kumki 2 is all set to hit theatres on 14 November 2025, coinciding with Children’s Day. Directed and written by Prabhu Solomon, the movie is produced by Pen Studios and serves as a standalone sequel to his 2012 hit film Kumki.

Unlike a direct continuation, Kumki 2 presents a fresh story that carries forward the emotional essence and natural beauty that made the first film memorable. The movie stars Mathi, Arjun Das, and Shrita Rao in lead roles, with Mathi playing Anbu, a character central to the story’s heartwarming theme.

The cast also includes Hareesh Peradi, Suzane George, Srinath, Nadackal Unnikrishnan, Athu Ithu Ethu Andrews, Florent Pereira, and V. Thiruselvam. Adding a special touch, M. Sasikumar lends his voice as the narrator, guiding the audience through the story’s emotional journey.

Following his previous works, director Prabhu Solomon once again explores the bond between humans, animals, and nature. The film is described as a musical adventure drama, designed to appeal to both children and family audiences. Nivas K. Prasanna composes the music, bringing in soulful and inspiring tracks that complement the film’s emotional tone.

The journey of Kumki 2 began after the release of Thodari, when Prabhu Solomon started developing the script. The film also marks the acting debut of Mathiyazhagan, nephew of filmmaker N. Lingusamy. Actor Arjun Das plays a significant role with shades of grey, adding depth to the storyline.

Production for Kumki 2 started in August 2017 and was filmed in stunning natural locations such as Thailand and Shivanasamudra Falls, a site famously used in the 1975 Tamil film Idhayakkani. Filming concluded in late 2018, and dubbing was completed during the COVID-19 period in 2020.
