After the phenomenal success of Kantara in 2022, director Rishab Shetty returns with the much-awaited Kantara Chapter 1. The film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films. It promises to be one of the most ambitious mythological action dramas in Indian cinema.

The film takes viewers back to pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, during the rule of the Kadambas of Banavasi. Unlike the first film, which focused on man’s conflict with nature in a rural setting, Chapter 1 explores the origins of Bhuta Kola rituals. It also highlights the sacred belief in divine land guardianship. The movie promises a blend of folklore, spirituality, and intense action rarely seen on screen.

Rishab Shetty himself takes center stage, playing a Naga Sadhu. His intense transformation and the gripping visuals in the teaser released on November 27, 2023, have already sparked strong anticipation. The first look showcases mystical imagery, dramatic landscapes, and glimpses of raw action sequences that hint at a far more intense cinematic experience than the first installment.

The music, one of the defining strengths of the original film, is once again being handled by B. Ajaneesh Loknath. His score is expected to heighten the spiritual and mythological tone of the narrative, ensuring the soundscape remains as memorable as the story itself. Adding to the film’s visual identity, Kaani Studio has designed the promotional posters, further intensifying the aura surrounding the release.

Filming began in November 2023, and the production team has consistently emphasized the scale and cultural depth of this project. Audiences can expect detailed recreations of rituals, authentic depictions of ancient Karnataka. Kantara Chapter 1 is set for a worldwide release on October 2, 2025, and it is already being discussed as a potential game-changer for Indian cinema.
